I turned 18 yesterday. I think that aging is such a weird thing and I resisted this birthday more than any other. Becoming an adult is a big deal, and it's becoming clear to me that I need to find a balance between being an adult and still keeping my childish enthusiasm. I started my first full day as an adult (today) by watching My Life As A Teenage Robot. I love cartoons. I've been craving Lucky Charms for weeks now. I'm sure I'm over-thinking this, as is my tendency, and I should pass fewer judgments on my own behavior.

I got a tattoo to celebrate my new ability to get one. It's an infinity symbol on my upper back. I went through many different ideas before deciding on this one. One day I was worrying about being late to meet up with some friends, and I thought to myself 'there is an infinite amount of time' and that led me to think about how there are infinite possibilities for me in my life, and I want to look back on this tattoo when I am older and remember the optimism and faith that I feel at this time in my life. I really feel that the world is opening before me and I can't wait to grab every opportunity with gusto.

Yesterday there was also a going away party for two exchange students who attended my high school this year. This combined with the recent graduation is making me think about how many people I have seen for the last time. Many of my classmates and I will lose touch, fall in obscurity and never see each other again. Graduation is a strange concept to me because it is the ending of an era. This is the first such experience I have had in my life and it is hard to imagine my life without those teachers and hallways that have become as familiar as my own home. This town is my home and I hope will always feel that way to me, no matter where life takes me.
